The west will always hold freedom -

- and will always remain a refuge for souls aching for a connection with something bigger than themselves. The raw power of nature here is astounding: the trees are bigger, the ideas bigger, the possibilities for life are overwhelming. Even the vastness of the pacific ocean looks in the complete opposite direction from where my ancestors came. My adventure here marked the start of a new life, mirroring others’ new beginnings since travelers first headed west centuries ago. It may feel narcissistic to say so, but making my life work here so far from the home I knew was performed through only the strongest will I could muster out of my young self.

And I have been made all the happier because of it.

I love gardening. There’s such a fantastic sense of accomplishment and wonder when you tend your own garden. This summer, we’re going to have blooming succulents, fresh herbs, english peas, and maybe -just maybe- grapes.
It’s not a big garden, seeing has how we only have half a patio to work with, but it’s something.
